Greenpass EU

Greenpass EU

A PDF as a digital passport? Technically correct. Practically, a bit mediocre. So, we turned the QR code into an app that people actually wanted to use in their everyday lives.

Proof of vaccination, test certificates, and recovery certificates – in 2021, we suddenly had more QR codes than loyalty cards. Greenpass EU brought them all together on your smartphone, making presenting and validating them within the EU as straightforward as possible. Multiple certificates, one app, and significantly less fumbling around right in front of the entrance.

Your own certificates, those of your children or even those of the whole family could be saved and collected in one app. Because five individual PDFs on a mobile phone really didn't make anyone any happier.

Certificates could not only be displayed, but also directly validated. Practical for gastronomy, clubs, and everyone else who had to check QR codes quite frequently back then.

Private stays private.

Health data is not necessarily something you want to have lying around somewhere in the cloud. That is why the certificates were stored locally and encrypted on the device.

Open to everyone.

Not the data, but the code. Greenpass EU was open source and therefore publicly visible. In addition, the app underwent two security audits. Trust is good, but being able to check for yourself is sometimes even better.

What began as a project by three students eventually landed on more than 1.5 million smartphones. And along the way, Greenpass EU became one of the projects that later gave rise to winkk. Not bad for an app that was actually only supposed to make a PDF more practical.

Head full of ideas but no free hands? We'll build it for you.

While you keep thinking strategically, we roll up our sleeves.
